Oldboy is… a really unique experience. The most accurate way I could describe this film is ABSOLUTELY SICKENING. I will never forgive Prep for making me watch this and I’ll never be able to scrape this film out of my brain. Truly, truly disturbing, extremely gross, horrible, vile, and most of all, unforgettable.
I would say Oldboy is one of the most impactful movies I’ve ever seen. I was extremely interested in the first half (long-term kidnapping is such an interesting concept to me for some reason), and the fights were all really cool, even for my weak stomach. This movie showcased The Most Over-The-Top, Beyond Nuclear revenge I’ve ever seen.
I genuinely hated the experience of watching this movie sooooooooooo, so much. I hated it, hated it, hated it. But it was objectively really, really good. And it’s these really intense feelings it left me with that mean I have to give it a high score. I can’t chuck it in the bin because it wasn’t anything close to trash, but I can’t say I loved it either.
So it gets this thing: ๐ฅ
Rating: OMGWTF I will never be the same. ๐ฅ
My former roommates and I (known affectionately as Goblin House) had a regular movie night where we all got together to watch a movie one of us picked out. Many of these reviews came from a Goblin Movie Night, so they’ll be tagged with the nickname of the Goblin who picked the movie.
